Jaivik TattooButterfly tattoo ideas and meaning
A butterfly goes through a complete change before it flies, which is why it stands for transformation. It is a popular choice for a first tattoo and for a symbol of a new chapter. These designs suit different sizes and styles.
What a butterfly stands for
The main meaning is change and growth, from the caterpillar to the winged adult. Many people also link butterflies to freedom, to a person who has passed, or to lightness after a hard time. The colours and the way the wings are drawn add to the feeling, from soft and delicate to bold and graphic.

Where to place it
Butterflies fit the wrist, the ankle, behind the ear, the collarbone, the shoulder blade and the back of the neck. A trail works along the forearm or the spine. Wings need room to show their detail, so a very tiny butterfly will be a simple shape.

Healing and aftercare
Colour wings fade faster in the sun than black ones. Use sunscreen once healed and keep the tattoo moisturised.
